Monday Night RAW Results for 4/12/2010

With the "Knight Rider" David Hasselhoff taking the reigns of Monday Night Raw in the U.K. this week, things were gonna go down. We saw a new number one contender named for Jack Swagger's World Heavyweight Championship, a new Divas Champion, Bret Hart show(Miz)ed up, a match made in Evolution, and John Cena getting some sort of retribution on the NXT Rookie David Otunga.

The Hoff wasted little time making his presence known. Driving, yes... driving, out to the ring in the infamous KITT, the "Knight Rider" had some announcements to make at the top of the show, much to the delight of the crowd in the O2 Arena. What he had in store for tonight's show included: The Baywatch Babe Triple Threat Tag Team Match, and the NEW #1 contender to SmackDown's World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger. He is not Edge, nor is he Chris Jericho. He is the man who beat Swagger twice in a row, Raw's Randy Orton! But that wasn't all. In tonight's main event, that man would face the #1 contender for Raw's World Champion John Cena: Former Evolution stablemate Batista!

Eve Torres def. Divas Champion Maryse (Title Match)
Raw's first match featured the Divas Champion putting her title on the line against the #1 contender, Eve. Having never won championship gold, Eve was undoubtedly the underdog against the 2-time Divas Champion. However, it didn't stop her. Summoning her athletic prowess, Eve defeated the conceited champion for her first title in WWE.

The Miz def. David Hart Smith
ShowMiz came out to the ring with a declaration to make. A far-fetched declaration, but when isn't The Miz's mouth making exaggarated claims about the "Awesome One"? He stated that ShowMiz is the greatest tag team of all time. Big Show seemed to feel the opposite, sounding surprised at their success. The duo was interrupted soon after by Bret Hart and The Hart Dynasty. Hart claimed that the Hart Foundation, The British Bulldogs, and The Hart Dynasty were ALL better than ShowMiz. Biased? Sure. True? Hard to say otherwise. However, Miz was willing to prove his words in a match against D.H. Smith. The catch? If Smith won, The Hart Dynasty would receive a Unified WWE Tag Team Championship match against the champs at Extreme Rules. If he lost to The Miz, however, Bret Hart would be forced to declare ShowMiz the greatest team of all time next week. Next week, Bret may have to eat his previous words, as Miz defeated David Hart Smith with a Skull Crushing Finale. (It should be noted this victory came with an assist from The Big Show.)

Evan Bourne def. Carlito
The fiery latin Carlito has been on a cold streak as of late. Tonight, he faced off against the high-octane Evan Bourne. Despite a valiant effort from "The Bad Apple" in this exciting back-and-forth match, it was the Air Bourne that ended the night for the Carribean Cool. Afterwards, the frustrated Carlito stormed off. Will we see this same misfortune continue to his Rookie Michael Tarver on WWE NXT tomorrow night?

WWE Champion John Cena def. David "A-List" Otunga via Submission
Last week, in a Unified WWE Tag Team Championship match, Raw Guest Host, NXT Rookie David Otunga left Cena high and dry and let ShowMiz pick up the victory. After, Batista preyed on the injured Cena. Otunga's reason: he wants the spotlight all to himself. Well, tonight, he had the spotlight shining on him alright. The spotlight shined right on him, tapping out to the STF. Batista, who accompanied Otunga to the ring, was called out by the WWE Champion after the match. At first, it seemed like we would see an Extreme Rules rematch. Batista, however, had second thoughts and made a retreat.

Kofi Kingston def. Sheamus via DQ
Sheamus and Triple H have been at odds for weeks now. The Celtic Warrior can't stand the fact that he lost to Triple H at WrestleMania. He made the announcement that at Extreme Rules, it will be The King of Kings vs. The Celtic Warrior in a Street Fight. Not long after, Kofi Kingston interrupted him. The man who was brutally attacked by Sheamus was looking for retribution, and had an opportunity at it tonight in a match. It seemed Kingston had Sheamus on the ropes, but all it took was a television monitor to the ribs to subdue his opponent. Though Kofi won by disqualification, he didn't look like a winner at the end of the match.

The Bella Twins def. Kelly Kelly & Gail Kim and Jillian & Rosa Mendes in a Divas Baywatch Babe Triple Threat Tag Team Match
Appropriately enough, the Divas made their entrance to the classic Baywatch theme in slow motion. The special referee: Santino Marella. In a match full of swimsuit clad beauties, The Bellas scored a pinfall over Jillian after a classic Bella Twin switch. After the match, Santino was pushed by an irate Jillian, causing him to accidentally swallow his whistle. The Divas pleaded with David Hasselhoff to come and rescue the choking Marella. Then, out of nowhere, in came Hornswoggle! One Tadpole Splash and Santino was able to spit the lodged whistle out from his mouth.

Batista vs. Randy Orton (No Contest)
The #1 contender for the WWE Championship vs the #1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship. Evolution vs. Evolution. There has been a lot of history between these two, and there is also a lot in common between The Animal and The Viper. Needless to say, this was a heated contest from the opening bell. It didn't see a conclusion, however, as the World Heavyweight Champion himself, Jack Swagger, rushed to the ring and delivered a Gutwrench Powerbomb to Orton just as he was about to win the match. That wasn't all. The WWE Champion John Cena also came to the ring and locked Batista into the STF, making Batista tap out again! With Extreme Rules just weeks away, WWE's World Champions sent strong messages to their challengers.
