David Otunga may have been the least experienced Rookie in NXT Season 1, but he brought with him intelligence as a Harvard graduate, star power as a reality TV star and the fiancé of Grammy & Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson, and the raw power that any man his size is expected. With R-Truth at his side, the self proclaimed "Mr. NXT" quickly made a strong presence on SmackDown, leading the other Rookies in a successful attack against Kane. He also made his presence known on Raw as the Guest Host, and again in a match against WWE Champion John Cena. Clearly, Otunga was willing and able to go out of his way to make himself noticed, including taking on his own WWE Pro, which he did, albeit in a losing effort. All in all, he did quite well, placing #2 at the end of Season 1.
