 | When Then-Undisputed WWE Champion Brock Lesnar made the title exclusive to SmackDown, Raw needed a World Title. Then-Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff created the World Heavyweight Championship and hand-picked Triple H to be the first champion. A spin-off of the old WCW Championship, the World Heavyweight title has been held by some of the biggest names in WWE, already becoming a prestigious World Title in the same right as the WWE Championship. In the short history of its existence, it's been held by Triple H, Batista, The Undertaker, and many more.

Since its inception in September 1979, many greats have captured the Intercontinental Championship, including Hall of Famers Pat Patterson, Don Muraco, Tito Santana and Greg Valentine.
